Pros of the Ecovacs Deebot
This is a budget robotic vacuum cleaner.
The unit has the same fall preventing sensors as the Roomba and its rivals. And it is capable of navigating back to the charging station in most cases, assuming it doesn’t get stuck under furniture or is unable to figure out how to navigate back to the charger.
The Deebot’s square design actually allows this inexpensive robot vacuum cleaner to get corners clean better than the round Roomba robot vacuum cleaners.
It has side brushes to clean as it travels along walls, a standard feature in many newer models of vacuum cleaning robots. And it doesn’t scuff up the baseboards.
The battery has decent life; it can run for about an hour per charge. This is enough to clean two or three rooms well or do a basic sweep of a small house or apartment.
The dirt bin has above average capacity, needing to be emptied every day or two depending on how dirty your floors are. It will need to be emptied daily if it is cleaning up large pieces of pet hair or very dirty floors, which fill the dirt bin faster.

While the manufacturer brags about its low profile, it often gets stuck on the transitions between rooms and on power cords.
While this robot floor cleaner does a good job on tile, hardwood floors and linoleum, it does not work well on carpet.
Observations about the Deebot D35
It automatically cleans the house once per day if not programmed otherwise. Its pattern, however, is rather random. It will typically get the middle of the room clean and will clean the edges of a room if it finds them, but it will not map out the room and ensure the entire floor is clean. Starting the unit next to a wall doesn’t always solve this problem, since it will eventually go in a diagonal direction to the walls.
The manufacturer sells replacement filters and brushes online, but if the battery in the robot vacuum dies or starts losing its charge too soon, it is almost necessary to buy a new vacuum instead of a replacement battery.
The unit picks up small debris and some pet hair, but it can’t pick up tumbleweeds of pet fur or heavier debris like large crumbs. It is a supplement to vacuuming or sweeping periodically, not a replacement.
